The powers and purposes of the Association are those set forth in the Articles Of Association and those authorized by law. The objectives are as follows:

  • The purpose of the CGWA shall be to serve its members as a trade association, which includes active participation in the National Cotton Council's programs, policy development and government affairs affecting the Association's membership.
  • To develop and maintain a high standard of efficiency in storing, handling and distribution of cotton resulting in the highest level of service to the cotton industry.
  • To foster development of methods, equipment, machinery, attachments, and operational expertise to attain the highest efficiency in use of worker and equipment resources.
  • To promote, develop and maintain a high standard of for services rendered by the member-handlers to transportation providers and to reduce to the minimum the transportation costs of handling cotton.
  • To lend influence toward the promotion and development of high standards in ginning, baling, covering, fiber quality preservation and overall preparation of cotton for market.
  • To promote and to protect the commercial and industrial interests of the membership
